Summer Splashdown Birthday Cake

This cake was for a very lucky three year old who had a big ole party with waterslides, a custom-made sandcastle piñata, and this doozy of a cake. It was a whole lot of fun to do!

The lower tier is chocolate fudge cake with mocha ganache filling and cream cheese frosting. The upper tier is sour cream vanilla cake with cream cheese filling and cream cheese frosting. Fondant and gumpaste decorations, rice crispy treat sandcastle, and chocolate rock decorations.

This lovely cake is for a friend of a friend. Her birthday is on St. Patrick's Day (today!), and she loves Asian culture. So, we combined with a green cherry blossom cake. And the cake itself -- GREEN velvet cake. Fun!

Delicious Chocolate Birthday Cake

My friend Jennifer got to thinking about my chocolate cakes. Her son was the recipient of the Curious George cake below. Well, the thought of the cake got to be too overwhelming in light of her coming birthday, and she had an "All I Want for Christmas" moment and decided that the only thing that would do for her birthday was the chocolate cake. And I can say this, because it's not my original recipe: This chocolate cake is RIDICULOUSLY AWESOME. I couldn't blame her. What could I do? I obliged.

Teddy Bear First Birthday

My friend's kid bites the noses off his teddy bears. Well, he's one, okay? Give him time. But I thought I'd give him a bear nose that would actually taste good when he bit it off. Donovan, I love you kid. Tell your mom thanks for letting me make your first birthday cake ever. Hand piped bear over cupcake top. Fondant cut out decorations on cake side. Separate whole cupcake bear for the little guy to get all over his face.

90th Birthday

Gramps turned 90 this month. Did you hear me? NINETY. So, I thought that merited a cake. Hand formed fondant figure and number. Red velvet cake with cream cheese icing and chocolate ganache topping.

Bunco Christmas Cake

12/08/09. Cake for a Christmas Party for a Bunco group (hence the dice). Handmade fondant bow and dice. Handmade white chocolate circular ornaments.

Adoption Cake

This is an adoption cake for a lovely family by the name of Sjolseth. They have a sweet tradition of singing "You are my Sjolseth" to the tune of "You are My Sunshine". They just finalized the adoption of two beautiful children into their already beautiful family.
